Family-Centered Childbirth Services

The birth of your child is one of the most precious moments in life. At the St. Luke New Beginnings Birth Center, we believe that a family-centered care approach enhances that already meaningful experience. Our highly trained Obstetrical team, comprised of physicians, anesthetists, and nurses, is skilled in both vaginal and cesarean section deliveries. We are committed to providing the highest level of compassionate care to you and your newborn.

The New Beginnings Birth Center is comprised of three spacious suites, where labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care can all occur in a comfortable home-like setting. Our warm and relaxing environment offers extensive amenities, including:

  • A large window seat and bed for your support person
  • A flat-screen TV with cable
  • A private bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub
  • Fully equipped C-Section operating room, conveniently located across the hall from the birthing suites, offering families continued comfort and security throughout the labor and delivery process.
  • State-of-the-art central monitoring systems allow nursing staff to observe labor progress in the room and at the nurses’ station.

At this time, visitation is not restricted. You may have anyone you would like come visit you during your stay at the New Beginning Birth Center.

Exceptional Care for Mother & Child

A Helping Hand

The nurses in the maternity unit are flexible and helpful.

  • They will make all accommodations to ensure that mothers and babies are as comfortable as possible during their stay and provide individual instruction on baby care, as needed.
  • The nurses also offer help and support with breastfeeding. Our staff includes certified lactation consultants who can assist with special situations. Educational videos and other instructional materials are available for parents to use at any time.
  • In addition, your doctor will visit you and your baby every day, to touch base and assess his or her progress.

Gourmet Dinner

The hospital joins in celebrating the birth of each baby by offering the mother and her support person a complimentary gourmet dinner. This meal is normally served in the evening before the mother goes home, but it can also be delivered as a mid-day meal.

Baby Pictures

Welcoming your baby into the world is a treasured moment, and the first photos of your precious child serve as a reminder of that moment for years to come. The New Beginnings Birth Center offers a free digital copy of your baby’s picture, to share with your family and friends. With your permission, this photo will also be used in your newborn’s announcement, which can include St. Luke’s website, digital signage, the local papers, and St. Luke social media (you will complete the permission form with Health Information staff. St. Luke will not share your child’s photo without your permission, but we still want to make sure you get a keepsake!).

Pain Management

Our patients are offered pain management that best suits their individual needs. This includes nitrous oxide, as an alternative to an epidural as well as TAP blocks offered after C-section procedures. Please discuss these options with your Provider, to determine which option is best for you.

Care Navigation

At St. Luke, we want every mom to have the support they need for a healthy pregnancy. Every pregnant mother will have access to a Care Navigator who will help you remember everything that goes along with pregnancy from scheduling OB appointments to connecting you to community resources that are available.

Lactation Consultation

Lactation consultation at St. Luke provides educational services and materials to breastfeeding moms including lactation counselors, dieticians, physicians, and others who work with breastfeeding families. We have multiple breastfeeding experts on staff who will provide you will the tools, education, and support you need as you and your baby navigate the first few days of breastfeeding.

Wrapped in Hope

Wrapped in Hope began as a community consortium of partners and providers who worked together to support mothers who struggled with addiction. Today, Wrapped in Hope has evolved into the Meadowlark Initiative that provides routine screening for mental illness and substance use disorders to all women during prenatal and postpartum appointments as a new standard of pregnancy care. Women with any concerns identified through screening are offered evaluation and treatment options right away.
